3rd Party Reproduction
Egg donation is a process that harvests eggs from a young and healthy woman (the donor) and combines them with sperm with in-vitro fertilization (IVF). The egg is then transplanted into the recipient, usually a woman who may be at risk for passing on genetic conditions or who face ovary or egg function issues.
To determine if egg donation is right for you, we will pair you with a team of experienced doctors, nurses, and counselors who can help you discuss your options and if egg donation is right for you.
Initial consultations for egg recipients involve:
- Reviewing medical history
- Comprehensive review of the egg donation and egg recipient process
- Physical examination
- Evaluation of financial considerations and options
Our complementary staff here at RMA of Texas is available to answer any and all questions you may have at any time during the egg donation process
Who Are the Egg Donors?
Egg donors can come from one of three sources:
- Anonymous donors who are identified and screened by RMA of Texas
- Anonymous donors identified through commercial services
- Known donors by the patient (family member, friend, etc.)
Women who participate anonymously in RMATX’s Transforming Lives is Conceivable must undergo extensive medical, general, and psychological screening processes. The standards are strictly set by The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
If a couple chooses an anonymous donor through our program, their name will be placed on a waiting list until a suitable match becomes available. Once a match is selected, the recipient will receive a full and detailed report on the donor. Patients can choose not to accept a donor for any reason without affecting their position on the waiting list.
